Baby Rio - ARCANE Fanart Sculpture - 2021

ARCANE is by far one of the best animated series that I've ever seen! After watching it, I came across some glow in the dark Fimo and felt compelled to construct a baby version of Rio - a simple character who I absolutely adored - to test out the properties of the clay.
This project quickly grew in complexity and I found myself building a small scene using balsa wood, acrylic paint, beads, crushed glass, fake moss, super glue and a lot more Fimo. Overall I'm really happy with how this turned out; not only was the glowing clay vibrant and fun to play with, but the whole aesthetic and story really pushed the model into the ARCANE universe.
In terms of narrative, I pictured a very young Rio living amongst the pipes of Zaun just below Piltover, possibly collecting alchemical-looking objects in playful mimicry of her guardian, Singed. Here we can see her either collecting or presenting another great find ~
