360˚ Panoramic Digital Painting (Lunar Track) - 2019

Decided to give 360˚ painting a go - a bit rough but actually really quite fun!

To give a little context; I produced this as part of a world-building project for Uni, where I reimagined the Earth with a lunar orbit completing one rotation every 14 hours and 10 minutes (mach 0.85). I also set a condition that stated the moon would retain its tidal lock but with one side in constant contact with the Earth's terrestrial surface; grating a 965km wide spirographic pathway across the globe, while dragging with it; a swirling mobile ocean. As part of the project, I considered and calculated as many possible ramifications that such a phenomenon would cause chemically, climatically, geologically, tectonically, technologically, aeronautically, evolutionary, culturally, tidally, religiously, architecturally and physically.

In the end, I detailed my speculations as a series of small illustrations, but chose to use this work as the project’s centrepiece and presented it as a VR experience using a simple mobile VR headset.
